PĀNUI - NEWS UPDATE | 28.08.2020

Tēnā koutou katoa. Warm greetings to all our patients.

Thank you all for your patience and understanding these past two weeks. Adapting to a reality that revolves around supporting Aotearoa’s Elimination Strategy against COVID-19 can be challenging and we appreciate you helping us as a designated COVID testing clinic keep everyone safe during these times.

As we prepare to move into Alert Level 2 on Sunday 30 August 11.59pm, we anticipate there will be more patients wanting to visit our clinic for regular health checks and updates.  We aim to keep everyone safe whilst accessing the services at Ōrākei Health.

Here are the important things you need to know

1. In every case of Emergency, always call 111

2. Ōrākei Health will continue to deliver health services primarily through Phone Consults. This is in place to ensure we are maintaining the health and safety of all staff and patients on site at all times. Be prepared to be screened for COVID symptoms on the phone and in person by both Reception AND GP/Nursing staff

NB: Reception cannot book appointments or complete prescription requests without a GP/Nurse assessment

3. All Walk-Ins will be attended to by Nurse Staff only. If you need to see a GP – please contact Reception BEFORE you come into clinic. If you present with any cold/flu like symptoms, you will be asked to return straight to your car to contact Reception and be advised of the next steps to take.

4. It is IMPORTANT to contact Reception if you have any cold/flu-like symptoms BEFORE you come into the clinic:

  • Fever, Cough, Sore throat, Shortness of Breath, Head cold (e.g.runny nose, sneezing, post-nasal drip) or Loss of sense of smell

I want to reassure all our patients, that your health and wellbeing is always top of mind for our Doctors and Nurses. We are here to ensure your health needs are met as best and as fast as possible while we balance the need to be vigilant and cautious in these unprecedented times.

Once again, we appreciate your patience and understanding. We are all playing our part to stamp out COVID-19 within our communities.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our friendly team on 09 578 0956 or email:

Ngā mihi nui, Best regards,

Kirimoana Willoughby
Practice Manager

Tēnā koutou katoa. Warm greetings to all our patients.

Ōrākei Health is playing our part in keeping everyone safe and slowing the spread of Covid-19.  We must remain vigilant until a vaccine is available. Important preventative actions such as staying home when one is sick, good hand hygiene and coughing or sneezing into your elbow are some easy ways for you and your whānau (family) to stay safe.

To ensure safety for all on the clinic premises during all Covid-19 Alert Levels (Auckland moves in Alert Level 3 from noon today until further notice from the NZ Government ), we require patients (existing and new) to contact our friendly reception on 09 578 0956 as your first point of contact and before visiting the clinic for any reason.

From there you will be contacted by one of our Doctors for treatment and care. If the Doctor requires you to come into the clinic for an assessment, they will book this appointment directly with you while they have you on the phone. Only one consult fee will be charged if the Doctor triages you on the phone and then has you come in to the clinic for assessment.

All patients who visit the clinic will be asked questions regarding Covid-19 symptoms by our friendly reception staff. It is critical that you answer honestly about any flu-like or respiratory symptoms (cough, fever, sore throat, shortness of breath). This will help to ensure the correct precautions are taken to keep you and our clinic staff safe.

If you have any concerns or need further assistance with any of the above details, please do not hesitate to give us a call at the clinic so we can answer your question.

We appreciate your cooperation, support and understanding during this time.
