FAQs

Why Ōrakei Health has increased their fees?

Despite the increase, Orakei Health remains to be the lowest priced medical practice in surrounding areas (including Saint Heliers, Mission Bay, Meadowbank, Glen Innes, Stonefields, Panmure). We understand that any change in fees can raise questions, and we want to be transparent about the reasons behind this adjustment:

  1. Rising Operational Costs: The cost of medical supplies, equipment, and utilities has increased, impacting our overall expenses.

  2. Maintaining Quality Care: To ensure we continue providing top-notch care and stay updated with the latest medical advancements, a fee adjustment is necessary.

  3. Sustainable Practice: This change helps us maintain a sustainable practice model, allowing us to invest in our team and facilities for better patient outcomes.

How did the clinic come up with these fees?

Fees were calculated based on two pricing models:

  1. GP Consult fees are based on the Very Low Cost Access (VLCA) government funding model that aims to improve access to services. The VLCA funding stipulates how much a practice can charge a patient. See this link for more VLCA info.

  2. Nursing and other service fees are based on a cost comparison of services provided by Medical Practices within 5-7km of our clinic.

I have NIB, how do the changes affect my health insurance?

The team will continue to submit claims on your behalf as long as you have an active policy that covers GP/Nurse consults. The only change will be how much is claimed depending on the service you access while in clinic.
